Morientes: I knew Spurs was keen on signing me
Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes has confirmed that he knew that Premiership side Tottenham was keen on signing him over the summer.
But Morientes denied that he is leaving the club, eventough they signed Brazillian star Ronaldo from Inter, in a deal that many believed would send the Spanish striker the other way.
The Real Madrid striker said: "There was much speculation that I was to leave the club at the start of the season but my feelings are that I want to continue to play for Real Madrid.
"It's true Real Madrid received an offer for me from Tottenham and other clubs at the start of the season, but nothing was signed so that was the end of it.
"My only colour is white and I never saw myself wearing any other shirt this season than Real Madrid one.
"I was very flattered by the interest that Tottenham showed in me and it is something that I will never forget. I've been looking out for Tottenham's results in the Premiership and I am happy that they have started so well in a very, very strong league.
"This does not mean, however, that I have any thoughts of joining the club in December."
