Privacy

Last updated 28 September 2026.

RealMadrid.dk is an independent Real Madrid fan site, online since 1995 and run from Denmark by volunteers. It is not affiliated with Real Madrid C.F. This page explains what personal data we process when you visit, why, who receives it, how long we keep it, and what rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Danish Data Protection Act.

1. Who is responsible

The editors of RealMadrid.dk are the data controller for the processing described on this page. You can reach us through the contact form. Google LLC acts as an independent controller for the advertising and analytics processing described in sections 4 and 5, as set out in Google's Privacy Policy.

2. Delivering and protecting the site

The site is delivered through Cloudflare, Inc., which handles your connection, caches pages and blocks attacks. Cloudflare processes your IP address and request data (browser type, page requested, time) for that purpose on our behalf. Our own server keeps short technical logs for troubleshooting; they rotate automatically within days and are not used to identify visitors.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure and fast website (GDPR article 6(1)(f)). This processing is necessary to show you the site and cannot be switched off.

3. Visitor statistics without cookies (Umami)

We run our own statistics tool, Umami, on our own server in Denmark. It counts page views, referrers, browser and device type and the country of the visit. It sets no cookies, stores no IP addresses and builds no profile of you. Umami needs no consent under the Danish cookie rules because it stores nothing on your device.

Legal basis: legitimate interest in understanding which content readers find useful (article 6(1)(f)). Retention: aggregated statistics are kept indefinitely; they contain no personal data.

4. Google Analytics (only with your consent)

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used. Until you choose Accept in the cookie banner, Google Analytics sends only anonymous, cookie-free signals (Google Consent Mode). If you accept, Google sets the cookies listed in section 7 and processes your pseudonymous user ID, pages viewed, approximate location and device data. Google may process this data on servers in the USA under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.

Legal basis: your consent (article 6(1)(a)). Retention: up to 14 months at Google. You can withdraw consent at any time via the Cookies link in the footer or block Google Analytics with Google's opt-out add-on.

5. Advertising (Google AdSense)

We show ads from Google AdSense to cover the cost of running the site. Google and its certified advertising partners may process your IP address, ad identifiers, the page you are reading and your approximate location to select, show and measure ads and to prevent fraud.

Google is a member of the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework. The list of ad technology providers Google may share data with is published at Google's ad technology providers. How Google uses data in advertising is explained at policies.google.com/technologies/ads, and you can manage your ad settings at adssettings.google.com. Retention: advertising cookies live for up to 13 months. You can change your choice at any time via the Cookies link in the footer.

6. Embedded content and links

Some articles embed videos from YouTube or Vimeo. When you play a video, those services may set their own cookies and collect data according to their privacy policies. Links to other websites are outside our control.

8. When you write to us

If you use the contact form, we store your name, email address and message on our server and send them by email to the editors so we can answer you. We keep messages for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and no longer than one year afterwards. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (article 6(1)(f)). The form is protected against automated abuse; a hashed version of your IP address is kept for one hour for rate limiting.

9. Transfers outside the EU

Cloudflare and Google may process data in the USA. Both are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and use the European Commission's standard contractual clauses for other transfers. Our own server and statistics are located in Denmark.

10. Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask what data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its processing, and receive a copy of it in a portable format. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal. Write to us via the contact form. You can also complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency, Datatilsynet, at datatilsynet.dk.

11. Changes

We update this page when we change how the site collects data. The date at the top shows the latest version.
