Zinedine Zidane sends message after Real Madrid's win over Getafe
Zinedine Zidane has reserved special praise for Cristiano Ronaldo, but he also had a message he wanted to pass onto his players.
Real Madrid bounced back from their 1-0 defeat at home to Espanyol on Tuesday by thrashing Getafe 3-1 in La Liga last night.
Ronaldo hit a double, while Gareth Bale also got on the scoresheet as Real consolidated third spot and closed the gap on Barcelona for at least nearly 24 hours, with Ernesto Valverde’s side in action against Atletico Madrid later today (3.15pm).
With a defining week coming up for Zidane’s men which sees the Bernabeu giants travel to face Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their last-16 Champions League tie, Ronaldo’s good form has come just in time.
After an indifferent campaign in La Liga, the Portuguese superstar has now scored eight times in his last five outings.
And Zidane has urged his players to capitalise and use his purple patch to their advantage.
Discussing Ronaldo, he said: "He'll be with us in Paris and I'm thrilled because he's enjoying an incredible run of form."
"We have to make the most of it."
When asked for his thoughts on the trip to the Parc des Princes, Zidane added: "It'll be the first time for me going to France as a manager but I'm going to prepare the match as always, with my players."
"We have to concentrate and do our upmost."
"We know it's going to be tricky and we're going to have to get stuck in if we want to get a positive result."
