Real Madrid midfielder open to playing out of position for team’s success

Federico Valverde has once again proven his immense value to Real Madrid, showcasing his ability to adapt to different positions on the pitch. A

ccording to a report by Jose Felix Diaz in MARCA, the Uruguayan midfielder, who was deployed as a right-back against Manchester City, is prepared to take on this makeshift role whenever required.

Valverde’s commitment to Real Madrid is undeniable. This season, he has featured in all 39 matches, demonstrating his durability and importance to the squad. No matter where he is placed on the field, he consistently delivers high-level performances.

His adaptability is a crucial asset, and he has already been deployed in four different roles—central midfield, attacking midfield, winger, and now as a full-back.

His latest shift to full-back against City was a testament to his willingness to prioritise the team’s needs over personal preferences.

Despite not being in peak physical condition and experiencing some discomfort, Valverde pushed through and played with remarkable intensity.

Even during Real Madrid’s recent match against Osasuna, he insisted on staying on the pitch for the full 90 minutes, refusing to let minor setbacks affect his game.

His mentality and commitment have made him one of the most dependable figures in the squad.

Against City, he delivered a performance that was not only solid defensively but also instrumental in building up play.

Statistically, he stood out in multiple areas—recording 11 ball recoveries, the highest among all players on the pitch.

He was also dominant in aerial duels, winning two out of three challenges. His defensive contributions included eight interceptions, four clearances, and a blocked shot.

In terms of passing, Valverde maintained an impressive 86.5% accuracy, completing 44 of his 52 attempted passes.

He was particularly effective in delivering long balls, with seven of his eight attempts reaching their target. Additionally, he provided three passes into the box, the highest among all players on the night.

Valverde’s ability to seamlessly transition across different roles is a rare quality in modern football.

Whether operating in midfield, out wide or as a full-back, he remains a driving force for Real Madrid. His relentless energy, tactical awareness, and commitment to the team’s cause make him an indispensable figure for Ancelotti.
