Zizou wants first silverware

Real Madrid's Zinedine Zidane has his heart set on adding the prestigious Teresa Herrera trophy to his silverware collection this weekend.

The French ace will travel with Real Madrid to La Coruna to contest this year's trophy
with Uruguay's Penarol, Mexico's Cruz Azul and the hosts, Deportivo.

Zizou has already missed out on winning the competition whilst he was at Juventus - the Italians fell on penalties to Brazilian side Botafogo in the 1996 final after a dramatic 4-4 draw.

Zidane told the Spanish daily, Marca on Thursday: "I've played in the tournament before, in '96 with Juve when Depor, Ajax and Botafogo were our rivals. I want to win it this time because it's such an important trophy now".

The Teresa Herrera trophy, now in its 56th year, is dedicated in honour of a young woman who dedicated her life to looking after the sick and poor in La Coruna during the early 18th century, they founded the first hospital in the region shortly before her death in 1791.
