Zizou's Pichichi surprise

Zinedine Zidane has expressed his surprise at finding himself as the team's leading goalscorer in the league during his first season in Spain.

Zizou has notched up four goals from seven games already, pipping goal machine Raul Gonzalez in the Pichichi stakes.

"I'm amazed that I'm the Pichichi," Zidane reported on his web page, "I'll have to make sure that I keep on scoring. The Spanish game is much more open that the defensive Italian game and that's probably why I've logged four goals up to now."

But Zidane's time with Real so far has not been without problems. After a shaky start to the season in the league, last year's champions find themselves in 13th place with just eight points.

Zidane, however, believes that they can and will claw back the difference to put themselves at the head of the Primera.

He added: "We were all hoping for a better start, and in the Champions League we've been having a great run. But this is the centenary year for Real and that's why we're obliged to win something."

"I'm not worried, I reckon that in the end we'll achieve great things with this team."
