Zizou KO'd from Trofeo Bernabeu

Zinedine Zidane must wait until Real Madrid meet Zaragoza in the Spanish Supercup on August 22 to make his debut at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The news comes after the Frenchman was forced out of next week's Trofeo Bernabeu competition with international commitments. France boss, Roger Lemerre wants Zizou for the national team's friendly against Denmark on August 15 meaning that there's no way he would able to feature in Real's showcase against Inter Milan the previous day.

It's bad news for Real Madrid, who had hoped to pull in a sell-out crowd against Inter, with Zidane as the star attraction. Some consolation for Real fans is that Lemerre has decided not to pick Real midfielder Claude Makelele for the Denmark clash meaning the French star will be able to play in the Trofeo Bernabeu showcase against the Hector Cuper Inter side.
