Zidane to hang up his soccer boots in 2005

Real Madrid and France midfielder Zinedine Zidane said in an interview on Tuesday that he plans to end his career in 2005.

"I've still three years left on my contract with Real Madrid and want to win one more title with the national team (Euro 2004) and two with Real," Zidane told the French L'Equipe newspaper.

"I want to live the next two-and-half years properly. If I've still got the passion and I'm physically alright then I'll continue," he said.

Zidane refused to discuss whether he was only half fit for France's final game in the 2002 World Cup in Japan and Korea against Denmark, a match Les Bleus lost 2-0 to go crashing out of the tournament.

He does feel, however, that the French team have been written off prematurely.

"For some people we died in one-and-half months and have been resurrected from nothing," he said.

France face Yugoslavia in a friendly in Paris on Wednesday without Zidane.
