Zidane happy Real Madrid signing Ronaldo now world's most expensive

Real Madrid advisor Zinedine Zidane admits he's happy Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has taken over his mantle as the world's most expensive transfer.

"It's a relief for me because the cost of Cristiano has seen me lose that record, which was quite heavy to carry," smiled Zidane. "You could say that thanks to Cristiano I could breathe again."

"When one wants to assemble a team with the best players in the world, it costs money."

On his own role at Real, Zidane added: "My relationship with the president is great."

"Now I'm here to learn and see how the club works outside the locker room."
