Zidane confirms Hazard is “100% ruled out of the Spanish Supercup”

The French coach talks to the press ahead of Madrid’s away match against Getafe.

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane talked to the media in Friday’s press conference, a day ahead of what will be a tough away match against Getafe right after the Christmas break.

"Getafe are an excellent, superb team. They’re giving their all on the field and they’re close to the Champions League spots. They’re completing a fantastic season and they have a great coach," said Zidane.

Getafe are indeed playing great football, even if their defensive, counterattacking style isn’t all that appealing. They’re currently sitting two points behind Atletico de Madrid after the first half of the season.

Zidane also confirmed that Eden Hazard will miss the upcoming Spanish Supercup as he hasn’t recovered from the foot fracture he picked up during the home match against PSG.

"Yes, he’s 100% ruled out of the Spanish Supercup and we’re hoping that he comes back after that," said Zidane.

Real Madrid drew their last three games before the Christmas break but the French coach was satisfied with the performances he saw from his players.

"We’ve dropped points, that’s just a fact. It’s tough to score points all the time as we’re facing opponents who know how to play. The most important thing is to give our best on the field, then anything can happen but we’re happy with the way we’re playing and we’ll try to improve it in 2020," explained Zidane, who also said that his players are in good form after the break.

"We’re coming back after the holidays in good shape. We want to play again, we’re motivated and that’s very good, we will try to start the new year with a good result," he said.

Zidane admitted that Real Madrid could get rid of some players during the winter transfer window.

"Anything can happen until January 31st and we’ll see," he commented when asked about the potential departures.

Zidane wrapped up Friday’s press conference by saying that he’s not worried about Madrid’s alleged lack of scoring power.

"This is not a problem. The important thing for us is the day to day work and to stay calm," concluded the coach.
