Youngster re-writes record books

Real teenager Javier García Portillo has smashed the club's youth team goals record earning a place in the records books at the Bernabeu.

Still only 19-years-old, Portillo has been the leading goalscorer or 'Pichichi' in every single competition he has entered, registering a jaw-dropping 357 goals in all major competitions and totaling nearly 700 for Real including friendly games.

Real first spotted Portillo when he was a youngster on the books at nearby Aranjuez. Vicente Del Bosque, then co-ordinating Real's youth set-up, signed the player up and he didn't disappoint, scoring five goals on his debut in September 1994.

Since then, Portillo has blossomed into one of the most potent strikers around in his age group, with no less then seven Pichichi titles under his belt. He has been hailed as one of the club's hottest prospects and could well solve Real's worries about finding a number nine capable of teaming up with Raul Gonzalez in the not too distant future.
