Who’s The Vampire? Real or ASD; Peter Vellapan Condemns Sky-high Fee

Asia Football Confederation General Secretary, Peter Vellapan, has publicly condemned Real Madrid for charging “sky high” appearance fee for the coming Asia Tour, he speaks in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He described Real’s act as “Vampire” and “eyes only on money making” . Vellapan also has also informed all 45 members of the AFC not to accept any teams that are charging ridiculous appearance fee for exhibition matches. This news has reached Real back in Spain. The senior management are shocked to learn all these negatives reports and felt dissatisfaction about ASD for creating negative effects on Real’s branding in Asia.

Vellapan’s comments were made after both Malaysia and Thailand have turned down ASD’s offer. On July 21, Malaysia FA made an announcement that the Real game scheduled for August 10 is off because of Real’s asking fee of Eruo2.6m plus additional Euro 300,000 for other costs.

The Real problem is the asking fee. According to ASD’s asking fee, if one of the countries, Malaysia or Thailand, agreed to pay Euro 2.6m, Euro 2.2m and 2.5m for Hong Kong and Japan respectively, the total would be Euro 7.5m which should have already been met with what Real’s actually asking ASD to commit. However, ASD is not satisfied and asked an extra Euro 700,000 from Kunming.

After all the unsuccessful dealings and reelings in Asia, ASD once again came up with the idea of charging the public for watching Real’s training sessions. The highest is RMB 780 and the rest are 180, 280 and 380. But, don’t forget Real’s training in Madrid is only charging a fee that is equivalent to RMB 40! According Kunming, there will be a total of 20,000 match tickets on sales and if you take an average of RMB 250, the gate receipt could reach RMB 5m. According to Kunming, arranging the training match including the ticket sales has nothing to do with them, not even one penny. So, ASD could possibly gain another RMB 5m into their pocket.

After hearing all these outrageous news about Real and ASD, that’s why Vellapan has publicly condemned Real Madrid. In reality, Real got the blame on behalf of their exclusive partner ASD. According to one of the senior management of Real, the Chairman has now been fully briefed of the situation and has asked his management to look into the situation when they landed in China. He also mentioned that ASD has bought the tour rights and therefore somehow for some reasons all these negative publicity and local arrangements have not been channel through back to Real.

Real has not been briefed fully of the situation until the past few days. Great Gate, the local management company for Real tour has sent a fax to Real and have let them know the truth.
