Werder Bremen ready to discuss Diego fee with Real Madrid

Werder Bremen are prepared to open talks with Real Madrid about the sale of star midfielder Diego.

Werder president Jurgen Born said: "We do not want to imagine it, but if Diego would like to leave for Real Madrid, we would not block his departure."

"Yes, he is a very important player. And we will do everything possible to keep him here."

"But we wouldn't stop him joining Real Madrid if there was no way of us keeping him here."
