Wenger plays down talks of Reyes's move to Real

Manager Arsene Wenger was adamant Spanish striker Jose Antonio Reyes will stay at Arsenal unless Real Madrid offer the right price for the player.

Reyes has publicly said he would like to join the Spanish giants and Real are reported to have offered 8.5 million pounds ($16.08 million) for the 22-year-old. But the figure falls way below Arsenal's valuation of the player.

"There is no deal with Madrid, I can assure you," said Wenger.

"His agent flies 2,000 feet in the air but he must come down to earth again."

"If you tell me there is a deal with Real Madrid, I tell you there will be no deal with Real Madrid. Nobody else has come in."

"At the end of the day, you need something concrete."

"If you say 'I like a player but sorry I have no money', stay at home."

Wenger is no stranger to having unsettled players in his squad, as uncertainty surrounds the future of England defender Ashley Cole and his proposed move to Chelsea.

Wenger has admitted his interest in signing Chelsea defender William Gallas but is not prepared to break Arsenal's salary cap.

"Cole cannot be totally focused as his situation has not been sorted out. Reyes is in the same boat," Wenger added.

"We have not spoken to Gallas yet because you need to agree personal terms, and we have a salary cap here and he comes from a club where there is no salary cap."

"So I don't know if it's possible to agree personal terms, and if it's possible to agree with Chelsea. Gallas is a good defender. And he can play at right-back, left-back, centre-back."

"We want the player. We have made an offer for him so it's clear we want him."

"If he comes here, frankly, he will have to come for less money."
