We Have Other Options, Insists Laporta

Barcelona's new president Joan Laporta has promised the club's supporters that he'll turn his attention to other players after losing out to Real Madrid for David Beckham.

Laporta launched his presidential election campaign on the back of a vow to try and sign the England captain, but was unable to intice Beckham to the Nou Camp.

However, Laporta is trying to be quick to wipe the egg of his face by appearing upbeat, despite having seen Barcelona's biggest rivals sign the player he was still courting just hours earlier.

"We couldn't reach agreement with Beckham's representatives but our supporters shouldn't be too worried. We have other options," Laporta told Spanish television.

Barcelona, who will not be in the Champions League next season, are now said to be targeting Ronaldinho, who earlier hinted he'd prefer a move to Spain than to England, where Manchester United will also now be desperate to fill the hole left by Beckham.
