Villarreal president to up bid for Real Madrid's Baptista

Villarreal president Fernando Roig is ready to up his bid for Real Madrid attacker Julio Baptista.

Roig had a £7 million offer rejected by Real last week and is now willing to go as high as £10 million for the Brazilian, who is also wanted by AC Milan and Newcastle United.

Villarreal are lining up Baptista as a replacement for Diego Forlan, who signed with Atletico Madrid last week.
