Vieira could join Juventus, says Trezeguet

France striker David Trezeguet believes compatriot and Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira could soon join him at Juventus.

"He is a great player and it's clear that it would please him to play at Juventus," Trezeguet was quoted as saying in the Gazzetta dello Sport on Monday.

"I have spoken to Patrick and he asked me for information about Turin. Myself and Lilian Thuram have invited him to join us, speaking of all the nice opportunities here.

"However, I believe that Zinedine Zidane has also spoken highly of Real Madrid. We'll see his decision but I believe Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will have an important role."

Trezeguet comes face to face with Vieira -- the top scorer in the English premier league with 13 goals -- on Tuesday night when Juventus take on Arsenal in the Champions League second phase Group D match at Highbury.

"Thierry and I have done everything the same from youth players at Monaco to the French national team," Trezeguet added.

"We are great friends and I'm happy he's found his place in England. He's the sort of player who needs space and you find that more easily in England than in Italy."

Juventus beat Bayer Leverkusen 4-0 last week in their first second phase game, which was postponed twice by fog, while Arsenal lost their opening game against Deportivo La Coruna. But the London side are unbeaten at home in European competition this season.

Trezeguet, who leads the Champions League goalscorers with eight so far, said: "They (Arsenal) are a strong side and counter-attack with great speed."

"We must obtain a positive result and that means being very solid without compromising our offensive qualities."
