Vicente del Bosque: Pellegrini More Than Capable Of Coaching Madrid

Former Real Madrid coach Vicente del Bosque has endorsed his old club’s move to appoint Manuel Pellegrini as their new trainer.

The current Spanish national team selector had praise for the ex-Villarreal man and he believes the Chilean has what it takes to meet the challenges of taking on one of most demanding jobs in world football.

“I am sure he has the capacity, the character and the right preparation to do his job well,” Del Bosque told La Sexta.

“He has been the most brilliant overseas coach over the last few years and all he needs is the kind of support that he had at Villarreal.”

The mustachioed coach then went on to acknowledge that Pellegrini has signed for a “unique” club, but he himself ruled out a possible return to reunite with his former boss, Florentino Perez.

“I do not have any desire for it. I do not want to be hypocritical and I will stay away from whatever the club does,” he assured.

Finally, Del Bosque spoke about how La Seleccion are reaping the fruits of years of outstanding work in the youth system.

“The lads that are with us now are those who have come from the junior categories and they have always demonstrated an extraordinary affection for the national team,” he said.

Del Bosque will attempt to help La Furia Roja extend their 30-game unbeaten run next Tuesday when they take on Azerbaijan in an international friendly.
