Van Nistelrooy welcomes Real Madrid contract talks

Ruud van Nistelrooy has welcomed the prospect of holding new contract talks with Real Madrid.

The Dutchman was on the mark in Real's 2-0 defeat of Recreativo Huelva yesterday and is aware that sports chief Pedja Mijatovic is considering offering him a new 12-month contract extension.

Van Nistelrooy said: "I have read what was published about my renewal, but I have not spoken with the club. At this moment I cannot comment on anything, although clearly I would like to continue for a long time at a club like Real Madrid."

On the win, he added: "We are looking to win and to play well. Today sometimes we played well and in other phases we didn't, but it has been a good victory."
