Van Nistelrooy Thrilled And Honoured By Extension

Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy was delighted after penning an extension to his current deal, which will now see him stay at the club until 2010.

The Dutchman will be 34 in 2010, and could thus hang up his boots at the Bernabeu. Speaking to Realmadrid.com after penning his extension, he was honoured to have become a part of the club's history.

"I love this Club's philosophy and I am thrilled to continue playing here for another two years," he said.

"Being a part of this Club's history is an honor. It's a great day. My family and I are loving every minute of this important day."

"I am going to enjoy every day that I am a member of this Club. All I can do now is offer my best football and a lot of goals."

Asked about his goals for the season, he said: "The main thing is that we play well and win titles. We have a very talented squad. We have experience and youth."

"We're doing well right now. We're league leaders and in the Last 16 of the Champions League and King's Cup. Our goal is obviously to stay on track."

"My own goal is always the same: to score and help my team win. But we want to do it by playing well, which is another goal of ours this year. We're doing well so far, so we just want to keep it up."
