Van Gaal defiant: I won't quit Barcelona

Louis van Gaal remained defiant, insisting he would not quit Barcelona after their shock 3-0 home defeat by Seville yesterday.

The final whistle was greeted by a sea of white handkerchiefs around the Nou Camp stadium as supporters called for the head of Van Gaal.

Fronting journalists at the post-match media conference, Van Gaal said as he sat down: "I am not thinking about resigning since it is not the best solution for Barcelona."

"I have always said that the most important thing here is unity between all sections of the club and therefore I am not going to resign."

"I am very disappointed, more for the public and Barcelona, but that is not worth anything, we had to win and we lost."

"I have no explanation for the incredible difference between our performance against Newcastle and today's. I can't explain it."
