Valencia to land Alexis as Real Madrid choose Metzelder

Valencia will clinch the signing of Getafe defender Alexis ahead of Real Madrid.

Real chose to pull out of negotiations after Borussia Dortmund defender Christophe Metzelder passed a medical in Madrid last week.

Valencia will pay Alexis' buyout clause - £6 million - to take the young stopper to the Mestalla at the end of this season. Miguel Pallardo and Pablo Hernandez will also move to Getafe as part of the deal.

Meanwhile, Metzelder will join Real on a Bosman over the summer - so long as he stays injury free for the remainder of this season.
