Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes has earned his first call up to the Spain squad which will face Uruguay in a friendly on Wednesday, after Real Madrid's Iker Casillas withdrew with an injury.
Casillas sustained a thigh strain in his side's 3-1 friendly victory over the Puskas All-Stars in a testimonial match for the Hungarian great in Budapest, Real said on Monday.
Valdes, 23, had an outstanding campaign for the Spanish champions last season and has established himself as Frank Rijkaard's undisputed first choice.
The Barca keeper joins Liverpool's new keeper Pepe Reina in Luis Aragones's 22-man squad.
With Reina only earning his first call up in May neither keeper has won a full international cap.
