Valdano to renew Real Madrid interest in Samuel

Real Madrid are eyeing AS Roma defender Walter Samuel.

Real were rebuffed in an approach last month to sign the Argentine international on-loan. However, Real sports chief Jorge Valdano is due in Rome next week where he is expected to open fresh talks about the versatile defender.

Real trainer Vicente del Bosque wants to shore up his shaky defence, which shifted three goals away at humble AEK Athens during the week, and has identified Samuel as the ideal addition.
