Valdano: Real Madrid a defender short

Real Madrid sports director Jorge Valdano has admitted they are a defender short.

"It is important to remember that at the beginning of the season we were interested in Milito and Ayala," Valdano told Marca.

"It is not so simple to much less find in the market players of our level at anytime - let alone in the month of December."

"I often said that we would feel more comfortable with an extra defender."
