Valdano: I Want Figo To Retire At Real

Real Madrid sports director Jorge Valdano says he wants Luis Figo to retire at the club.

The Merengues are just about to start negotiations with the player over a contract extension, and Valdano said: "We have spoken a lot about Luis Figo lately and this has generated expectations of all sorts. I want that Luis retires at Real Madrid."

"He is an exemplary player, has an extraordinary competitive quality, a professionalism off the pitch and serves as an example to the young players."

President Florentino Perez has already made it known to Figo's lawyer Luis Vicente that he wants to extend the player's contract.
