Valdano blanks questions about Real Madrid talks with Arsenal's Wenger

Jorge Valdano insists he's not been invited by Florentino Perez to join his Real Madrid ticket.

Valdano is understood to be sounding out potential signings - including Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger - on behalf of Perez.

But the Argentine says: "I have not even received an invitation to be part of Florentino's candidacy. When I do, I'll answer the question of whether or not I will be with him."

"It would be good for Madrid if it was Florentino who won the elections, because he's a person who thinks big."

Asked about Wenger, Valdano would only say: "It's something that I will not discuss. Right now the club is in a transition period and we have to let things run their course."
