Valdano admits Real Madrid keen to avoid Higuain surgery

Real Madrid GM Jorge Valdano admits they're delaying back surgery for Gonzalo Higuain.

The striker faces at least two months out if he is to go under the knife.

Valdano said: "We believe Higuain can recover with conservative recovery methods. We have to see the schedule through trying to avoid the player from having surgery."

"He started to have this problem not so long ago, so we shouldn't be hasty. If surgery is necessary, then we will look for the best specialist to treat him."
