Uruguayan Garcia set to join Real Madrid

Uruguayan midfielder Pablo Garcia is set to become Real Madrid's first signing of the close season, the player told Spanish radio station Radio Marca on Wednesday.

"There are only a few minor matters to resolve," Garcia said. "I will be proud to wear the shirt of a team as great as Real Madrid"

The 28-year-old international has a reputation as a tough-tackling midfielder, though he was also the main playmaker for Primera Liga side Osasuna.

He will compete for the midfield holding role at Real with Denmark's Thomas Gravesen.

"I will give my all for Real and will be the same player you have seen playing for Osasuna," he added.

Garcia is provisionally set to be unveiled on July 10.
