Real Madrid have quickly denied that Ronaldo told the Sun that he would like to play for Arsenal.

"He has never made these declarations and it has not even crossed his mind to think that," said Joaquin Maroto, a Real official.

Ronaldo was earlier quoted as saying: "Arsenal are one of the great traditional English clubs so perhaps I should go and play for them."
