Unhappy Guti questions future at Real Madrid

Real Madrid midfielder Guti believes his days at the club may be numbered after another season spent on the periphery of the team.

"I think the club and I should think very hard about what is best for both parties. Perhaps it would be best for everyone if I left," the Spanish international told sports daily AS on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old made 18 starts for Real but since the arrival of coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo during the winter break and Denmark midfielder Thomas Gravesen in the January transfer window he has spent more time on the bench.

"I am not angry, just frustrated because I thought I would be able to play more this year," Guti added.

"I could have done a lot of good things for the side, but I haven't been able to."

"I want to develop as a player and I feel I am stuck on the second level here. I am able to play many more minutes than I am doing and to have a more important role in a side."

Guti, who has a contract with Real until 2008, is not alone in being unsettled at Real. Portuguese winger Luis Figo has also expressed his unhappiness recently after being relegated to the bench for the last two months of the season.

Real finished second in the table, four points behind fierce rivals Barcelona.
