UEFA Champions League draw

Today at 12.00 CET UEFA held the draw in Geneve.

Bayern and United meet again

European champions FC Bayern München and Manchester United will meet again after the two clubs were pitted together in the draw for the second group stage of the UEFA Champions League.

Bayern, who defeated United in the quarter-finals of last season’s competition, face the English champions in Group A, along with Boavista FC and FC Nantes Atlantique. It is the only group to contain four reigning domestic champions.

Former European champions

Group B brings together FC Barcelona against Liverpool FC, two former European champions who met in last season’s UEFA Cup semi-final from which the English club emerged 1-0 victors. The lineup is completed by Galatasaray SK and AS Roma and the Italian champions’ meeting with Liverpool will revive memories of the sides’ 1984 European Champions Clubs’ Cup final in Rome, which the Merseysiders won.

The 2000 champions

In Group C, the 2000 champions Real Madrid CF take on Panathinaikos FC, who emerged as winners of Group C in the first group stage, along with FC Porto, the 1987 European champions, and AC Sparta Praha.

Group D brings together Juventus FC, RC Deportivo La Coruña, Arsenal FC and Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
