Two new signings at Real

Real have acquired the services of two falcons, who will make sure that the club's pitch remains in tip top shape throughout the season.

The birds of prey, both Arabian falcons, have been nicknamed "Figo" and "Zidane" and will be on guard whilst new grass is laid down on the famous Bernabeu pitch.

The idea is that the birds will keep down the large number of pigeons near the stadium, giving the grass a chance to take root; the method is regularly used by clubs as the best means of thwarting seed-eating pests.

Officials at the club have said that the two birds are as much the stars of the club as the players in the team.
