Totti: We Can Beat Real Madrid And Catch Inter

Francesco Totti has no doubts about his ambitions for the season as he has set his sights on helping Roma to beat Real Madrid in the Champions League and to catch Inter in Serie A.

The Giallorossi captain is confident that his team can progress on both fronts and end the campaign by winning both trophies to cap a glorious year.

Next month Roma take on Bernd Schuster's Real Madrid side and Totti admits that on paper the Spanish outfit may look stronger, but thinks that will mean nothing.

“I am happy to play against Real Madrid because it reminds me of very nice memories, like the goal at El Santiago Bernabeu in 2002," he told France Football.

“Their current team is very strong but I am sure we can make it. Some teams seem better than us on the match sheet, but we are ambitious and always want to win every competition we are playing.”

Roma are currently seven points behind Inter in Serie A, but again Totti is confident that the gap is not to big to make up.

As well as their skipper, the rest of the players also believe that the feat is possible and that Roberto Mancini's team can be caught.

“Inter have an important advantage on us, seven points, and remains favourites for the title,” he continued.

“But Roma players are convinced we can fight for the Scudetto until the end.”
