Tottenham agree to sign Real Madrid star after Mauricio Pochettino transfer request

Tottenham have held transfer talks with Real Madrid - but not to discuss the sale of Christian Eriksen.

Spurs are negotiating a deal to sign midfielder Dani Ceballos from the Spanish giants, who have cooled their interest in Christian Eriksen.

According to AS, Mauricio Pochettino could be on the brink of his third signing after agreeing to take Ceballos on loan.

Tottenham chiefs have reportedly made their move after Pochettino frequently requested the 22-year-old’s arrival.

Ceballos is anxious over his future after a disappointing campaign at the Bernabeu.

He managed just 19 starts in all competitions last season, despite Real Madrid’s struggles.

After helping Spain win the Under-21 European Championship, Ceballos admitted he wants more minutes on the pitch next season.

"Ive always said I have four-year contract with Real Madrid, but it is true that I'm happy playing football," he said last week.

"That's when I feel important in the field and with confidence when everything is much easier."

"The next year I want to play 40 games and aspire to win."

AS claim Zinedine Zidane has told Ceballos he is unlikely to start as many games as he would like in the upcoming campaign.

Real Madrid will reportedly demand £54m (€60m) from Tottenham to sign Ceballos on a permanent basis at the end of any loan deal.
