Toshack never doubted Real Madrid glory for Bale

Former Real Madrid coach John Toshack is delighted for Gareth Bale over his success in Spain.

The Welshman is back in Cardiff this week for the European Super Cup against Sevilla.

Toshack told marca.com: "Who could have doubts about Gareth? Honestly, I don't get it. I told MARCA before that people had to be patient, but Real Madrid had definitely made the right decision [by signing Bale]. Lo and behold, at the end of last season we saw Bale at his best, but no one had wanted to cut him any slack."

"He hadn't had a pre-season and the whole on-off transfer thing can be unsettling. The same thing had happened to Modric the previous season."
