Real Sociedad chief John Toshack is set to make a second bid for Real Madrid striker Elvir Baljic, who is valued at $US 21million.
The Basque club want to find a replacement for front man Edgaras Jankauskas, who may well leave San Sebastian to join Sporting Lisbon in the next few days.
Toshack is one of Baljic's most ardent fans, having pushed to sign the player whilst he was in charge at Real Madrid nearly two years ago. But Baljic failed to impress at The Bernabeu and was loaned out to Fernabahce last season after an injury-plagued first year.
Madrid are hoping to rake in a figure of around $US 21m (£15m) for Baljic - a price that may be well out of the pockets of the Txuri Urdin.
Better-placed to land Baljic are French outfit Paris Saint Germain, who have enquired about three Real stars: Baljic, Savio Bortolini and Santiago Solari.
