Torres delighted as Atletico Madrid stun Depor

Crisis club Atletico Madrid produced one of their best performances of the season to shock Deportivo La Coruna 3-1 yesterday.

After Depor's Roy Makaay had cancelled out Jose Mari's opening effort, two goals in quick succession from the outstanding Fernando Torres and Fernando Correa sealed the win for Atletico.

Afterwards, a delighted Torres said: "I am very pleased with the game that I have played, I scored a goal and I have made another one. You always dream about afternoons like this."

Referring to the controversy during the week between the players and president Jesus Gil, Torres continued: "They said we were not a team, that we do not give our all, but we have demonstrated that is not true!"

Torres also had a word for the Atletico support, who have endured a difficult week.

"The supporters are with the team until death, but that has always been so and we are thankful for that."

"We have shown them that we never want to fool them and that we are always giving our all for this club."
