Tight security for Real Madrid in Bangkok

Real Madrid should feel safe during their visit to Thailand next month as security will be extremely tight.

The organisers will use around 1,500 security officiers including three bodyguards per star to ensure maximum safety during their stay in Bangkok, said Vorawoot Rojanaparnich, managing director of Dhospaak Co, one of the organisers.

The number of security officers is three times more than the number used to provide security for Liverpool when they visited Thailand last week.

Real Madrid will arrive in Bangkok on August 9 by a private jet at 1.30pm and will play a friendly against Thailand at Rajamangala Stadium on August 10 at 6pm.

The match is co-organised by the Tourism and Sports Ministry, the Football Association of Thailand, the Sports Authority of Thailand and Beer Chang.

There will be 149 people in Real Madrid's group including 25 players, 30 club officials and 44 Spanish journalists, Vorawoot said.

The players will train in the evening of August 9 at Rajamangala Stadium and will attend a gala dinner at the Imperial Queen's Park Hotel where they will be staying. On the match day they will not go out to anywhere except the stadium.

Real Madrid will come with their own chefs and have asked the organisers to provide them cooking ingredients. The Spanish champions, who are in China for the first leg of their Asian tour, were heavily criticised for snubbing a reception dinner in the Chinese city of Kunming as team officials argued that the players are always on a strict diet.

Tickets for the Real Madrid vs. Thailand match are priced at 500, 800, 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000 baht and will be available from August 4 at Krung Thai Bank, Kesinee International School, Bodindecha School and Star Soccer outlets.
