Swap talks on for Beckham and Real Madrid star Ronaldo

A mega player swap involving Real Madrid striker Ronaldo and Manchester United's David Beckham could be on.

The Sunday Mirror says sportswear giants Nike and adidas are brokering the deal, with both companies convinced they can help finance what would be the most sensational move in football.

Nike have Ronaldo on their books and are United's shirt sponsor, while the reverse is the situation for Adidas, Beckham and Real Madrid.

Last night an insider at Nike confirmed they were keen to help negotiate the moves and are prepared to bankroll them to ensure they go through.

It's been suggested United could exchange Beckham for Ronaldo with both clubs also pocketing as much as £20 million from the deal.

The transfer would be financed by Adidas and Nike, who believe they would quickly get their money back from shirt and boot sales.
