Suspension is bound to happen - Beckham

David Beckham admits his aggresive role for Real Madrid is going to land him a suspension sooner or later.

"I don't want to get another yellow card, but it's bound to happen in the next stage of this season," he said.

Beckham will miss Wednesday's Copa del Rey quarter-final return leg against Valencia being red carded last week.

This was his first sending off since moving to Real Madrid.

Following last week's sending off, Beckham said that he would probably stayed on the pitch had it been an English referee in charge.

In Spain, his aggresive British style of play has caused him to commit many fouls.

"My style of play is to work hard and if we lose the ball to recover it as soon as possible - sometimes it gets me in trouble, but that's the way I play and the way I'll carry on," he said.

"Making challenges needs to be done. Coming into a team like this you have players who have an enormous amount of skill and those who work hard."

"I'd like to think I've got a little bit of skill and work quite hard," he added.

Beckham says that he prefers his new central role instead of the right side of midfield.

"It's a different job playing in the middle than on the right wing, you are more involved in the game and you get more touches of the ball."

"You are not just looking one way, you've got both ways to look but I'm enjoying the change."

"I prefer playing in the middle, I've always said that when I've been asked if I prefer to play on the right or in the middle, I had a lot of great years at Man United playing on the right and it's just a change," he said.

Beckham says that he has learned a great deal from United captain Roy Keane and tries to emulate him.

"You learn from the great players," he said.

"I've played with Roy Keane for a long time and to play with him and be captained by him was a great experience with me."

"We had two great central midfielders in Manchester, and I was lucky to play with Roy for a long time."
