Survivors Real draw Tenerife in Cup second round

Real Madrid, one of the last big-name teams left in the King's Cup after a slew of shock first-round exits, have been drawn away to second division Tenerife in the next stage.

Real, third in the Primera Liga, scraped through the opening
round with a 2-1 victory over hird division Leganes while
Tenerife beat former top flight side Celta Vigo 3-1.

Tenerife, lying 13th in the second division, famously deprived Real of two league titles in the early 1990s by beating them on the final day of the season to hand the title to their arch-rivals Barcelona.

"It's going to be a party for the whole island," said Tenerife coach Pepe More. "It also means a big injection of funds for the club.

"With the game in our stadium, a great atmosphere is guaranteed. With our motivation to win, it is going to be a very special occasion. We won't let the fans down."

Sevilla, lying second in the Primera Liga, have been paired with second division strugglers Ciudad de Murcia while Atletico Madrid are away to Gimnastic who disposed of Cup holders Zaragoza in the first round.

Third division giant-killers Gramenet, who claimed a shock extra-time victory over Barcelona, take on Bernd Schuster's Levante, who are in a surprise fifth place in the Primera Liga on their return to the top flight.

Second division Lleida, who knocked out Valencia, meet Terrassa who caused another shock by beating Espanyol in the opening round.

The one-off ties, which are played at the ground of the lower-ranked team, are scheduled to take place on November 10.
