Spurs in talks with Morientes reps: Deal tabled

Tottenham boss Glenn Hoddle held fresh talks with Fernando Morientes' advisors yesterday.
The Mirror says the Real Madrid striker's agent Gimes Carvagal flew into London and met with Hoddle and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

Hoddle said: "We are forging forward. I can't give any more news than that, but I am still optimistic we can get someone in."

Spurs are still hopeful they can convince Real to part with Morientes for £15 million. Currently, the striker's price-tag stands at £20 million.

Payments on Tottenham's £15 million bid would be spread over five years and Morientes has been offered £40,000 a week - making him the highest earner at the club.
