Solari goes under knife

Santiago Solari underwent surgery at Madrid's Ruber Internacional clinic on Monday evening to mend a small fracture to his nose.

Solari, 24, has suffered breathing problems due to the fracture, which he sustained over three years ago. The operation, conducted by surgeon, Galindo Campillo lasted just under an hour and according to club officials was a complete success.

Campillo explained afterwards: "Santiago won't have any post-operation pains nor will he require excess fluid to be tapped from his nose. It's a simple operation - there won't be any need for the player to wear a protective splint."

"The only thing he will notice is some slight inflammation inside the nasal cavity that will last from between 15 to 20 days."

Solari should be discharged from the clinic on Tuesday and then spend the next four days resting. The player will be allowed to resume light training next week and within 10 days will be able to play official games.

This means that Solari will not be available for the final game of the season against Valldolid on Sunday June 17.
