Sneijder: This Team Can Win Titles

Despite losing to Juventus in the Champions League last night Real Madrid midfielder Wesley Sneijder says that they can win titles and that only the first half cost them in Italy.

It was supposed to be a clash pitting a fallen giant, Juventus, against the biggest club in Spain, Real Madrid, but in the Champions League last night things didn't go quite according to plan for the visitors.

Bernd Schuster's side went two nil down to the Italians and despite pulling one back they couldn't muster an equaliser against their solid and well organised opponents. Speaking about the match midfield maestro Wesley Sneijder says that it was the first half that cost them and that they should have scored when they were on top near the end of the match.

"Juventus showed themselves to be a good team in the first half, but in the second half they were not so good. In the second forty-five we played well and it was frustrating to lose because we had many opportunities."

"I believe that we have a strong team with a lot of quality, if we have injuries or not. What is clear is that we can win titles with this team because we have quality. Against Juventus we played very well and I don't believe we miss anything," said the Dutchman.

Indeed, Real Madrid have recovered a lot of injured players lately, Sneijder one of them and another important one being his Dutch colleague Arjen Robben. The pacey winger came on against Juventus to look threatening and Sneijder had nothing but praise for him.

"When he is in good form he has a lot of pace and has it all. He is a very good player and I believe that yesterday he did very well. Physically he is now perfect and he comes in to the team at a good stage," he opined.

Next up for Sneijder and Robben are Athletic Bilbao this weekend and the Dutchman commented on them saying that they are a 'hard and strong team, like an English side.' He also spoke about other teammates at Real Madrid such as Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Raúl.

"Ruud is in great form, scoring goals and working very hard for the team, he is a very important player for the team. As is Raúl, who needs to score goals but is still working hard for the team. They are fundamental and we need them," he concluded.
