Sevilla eliminated from Peace Cup with Seongnam draw

FC Sevilla crashed out of the Peace Cup on Sunday after being held to a goalless draw at their home stadium by unfancied South Korean side Seongnam.

The Spanish side needed all three points to make it to the semifinals after they were defeated on the opening day of the tournament 2-1 by Juventus.

"The team ran, worked hard, they tried and created opportunities, but there was a lack of freshness and conditions did not help," Sevilla coach Manolo Jimenez said after the match played in blistering heat before just 3,000 people at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium.

"Against Juventus we played well, there was a lack of depth during the first half, but in the second we spent a good twenty minutes in Juventus' half of the pitch."

Twelve teams from around the globe, including Real Madrid and Aston Villa, are taking part in the fourth edition of the pre-season tournament.

There are four groups with three teams in each. The top team in each group goes through to the semifinals which will be played on July 31. The final takes place two days later in Seville.
