It is far from the biggest secret but Gabriel Heinze has made it known anyway that Real Madrid are struggling to cope with dead ball situations at their end of the goal.
But the former Manchester United defender has remained calm about the issue as he assured that the team will soon find a solution.
“It is not a goalkeeping or a defensive problem… but a problem for the entire team,” he revealed during a press conference.
“I do not worry about it because there’s always a solution. We are conscious that it is not normal to concede so many goals from set-pieces but we are working on it to make sure it stops happening,” he added.
When asked who he thinks the favourites are this season for the Champions League crown, Heinze declined to pick a name, although he acknowledged that the Premiership sides will be a force again.
“I do not like to talk about favourites. This year’s competition will be different from the rest, but I want Real Madrid and the other Spanish teams to do well."
“The English teams, I don’t know if they are better than the others, but they do have something extra. Their game, which has a very distinct English style, is seen throughout and to have two sides in the final (last year) says something,” he concluded.
Los Merengues will begin their journey for a record 10th Champions League title this Wednesday against Belarusian minnows, BATE Borisov and Heinze looks likely to start in defence alongside Fabio Cannavaro in light of Pepe’s suspension.
