Sergio Ramos is set to join a very distinct group at Real Madrid by becoming one of their highest paid players on the roster.
The player’s agent and brother, René Ramos met with one of the club’s chief directors, José Angel Sánchez last Monday to enter the long-awaited contract discussions and both parties emerged with a highly positive outcome.
According to El Mundo Deportivo, the pair have reached a pre-agreement that will be signed next Monday after the transfer market closes. Should Madrid fulfil their end of the bargain come next week, the new deal will see the 22 year old’s pay cheque go from €6 million gross per season to €6 million net, as per his demand.
By the start of the new week, Sergio Ramos could also become the one and only remaining player who was signed during the Florentino Pérez era when Robinho finally leaves for Chelsea.
