Schuster: We Should Not Have Suffered Like That

Bernd Schuster was not happy that his Real Madrid made life difficulty for themselves as they survived a surprise in the Copa del Rey with a late, late winner.

After drawing the first game the scores were level until deep into injury time against Alicante on Wednesday night when Guti popped up with a winning goal.

"We have been made to suffer unnecessarily because it was a game when we had a number of clear chances," the German coach explained.

"We have let them off a great deal and it we should not have had to wait until the final minute."

"There is no discussion about the fact that we were the better team. I was always confident that the team would win and qualify."

"It is clear that we should have not it in this way, but their goalkeeper had another great game."

The performance of the team pleased Schuster overall and he was delighted that many have pushed themselves into contention for the league game at the weekend."

"It is a good part of the job of a coach when the players make your life complicated," he continued.

"Therefore, I am pleased that players did well and those that played took advantage and gave themselves a chance to play on Sunday."
