Schuster Set Sights On Supercopa

Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster is cranking up the heat in training as he prepares his charges for this Sunday’s Supercopa first leg clash at Valencia.

Just a day after returning from their trip to Germany where they played and drew 1-1 with Eintracht Frankfurt in an historic friendly, the reigning La Liga champions were back on the pitch of their Valdebebas training centre with their minds set firmly on this weekend’s Supercopa face-off with Copa del Rey winners, Valencia.

Schuster sketched out a recovery session yesterday evening with a light workout for the players who were involved in the Eintracht game and a more intense exercise for those who did not participate.

Over the next three days, the German trainer will step up the training regiment to double sessions each and every day, where the main focal point will be shooting practice. Schuster was understandably frustrated after the 1-1 friendly draw when his players wasted a significant amount of chances because of poor finishing and he is eager to rectify that before their first official match of the new campaign.

After missing out on last season’s edition when they were comprehensively beaten by Sevilla, Schuster will be hoping that his side can amends this year. The blancos have fond memories of their trip to Mestalla last term when they smashed five goals past one of their fiercest rivals, although things are expectedly to be very different this time around.
